Privacy Policy
This policy describes what data Vanish collects, how it is used, and how it is protected. Vanish is built to collect as little data as possible.
The Vanish Application
Data stored locally on your device
Vanish stores the following data on your computer only:
- settings.json — Your app configuration (shortcuts, triggers, preferences). Stored in %APPDATA%\Vanish\. Never transmitted.
- license.dat — Your license activation state. Stored locally after activation. Verified locally on each launch without contacting external servers.
- Log files — Diagnostic logs stored in
%APPDATA%\Vanish\logs\Not transmitted unless you choose to share them when reporting a bug.
License activation
When you activate a license, Vanish contacts the Lemon Squeezy API to verify your license key. The only data sent is your license key. After successful activation, all subsequent launches verify locally — no further network requests are made for license verification.
Crash reporting
Vanish uses Sentry for crash reporting. If the application crashes, an anonymized error report is sent to Sentry. This report contains the error type, stack trace, application version, and Windows version. It does not contain window content, screen content, application names in your hide list, or any personally identifiable information.
No window content, screen content, or information about what you hide with Vanish is ever collected or transmitted.
This Website
Analytics
This website uses privacy-focused analytics (Plausible or Fathom) to understand aggregate visit patterns. These tools collect no cookies, no personal data, and no cross-site tracking. The data collected includes: page views, referrer source, country (not city), device type, and browser type — all in aggregate only.
Payments
License purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, a third-party payment processor. When you purchase a license, your payment information is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy — Vanish receives only your email address (used to deliver your license key) and the license key itself. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.
No cookies
This website does not use tracking cookies. The only local storage used is for your theme preference (dark or light), which is stored in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted.
Data Retention
Local application data (settings.json, license.dat, logs) persists until you uninstall Vanish and manually delete the %APPDATA%\Vanish\ folder. See the uninstall instructions in the Help page.

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of Vanish after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
